Teriyaki Beef Skewers with Pineapple and Red Onion
To prepare the most delicious teriyaki beef skewers, you first need to make yourselves a homemade Teriyaki sauce. My recipe can be done for up to 10 minutes. By adding 1 tsp. of cornstarch you could turn it into a glaze that is perfect for fish, chicken, beef and pork meat… The best part of it is that the ingredients are available in every big supermarket. Try this recipe for yourself and odds are that you’d do it many times after.
Ingredients for the homemade teriyaki sauce:
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tsp. mirin
- 2 tsp. brown sugar
- ¼ cup of sugar
- 1 ½ tbsp. minced garlic
- 1 ½ tbsp. minced fresh ginger
- ½ tbsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. cornstarch (in case you’re making a glaze)
Preparation:
Preparation of the teriyaki sauce:
Put all the ingredients except the cornstarch in a pan. Cook on medium heat and stir from time to time. It is ready when the sugar has entirely dissolved. Only 10 minutes were needed to make the homemade teriyaki, ready to be used in your favourite recipes.
For the teriyaki glaze:
Add 1 tsp. cornstarch to 1 ½ tsp. water and mix. Put in a pan the teriyaki sauce, add the cornstarch and stir. Leave it to burble on a medium heat until it thickens.
You can contain the sauce/glaze in a sealed container up to a week. Before containing the sauce, make sure it is cooled down.
After you have your homemade teriyaki, it is time to cook your beef skewers
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ kilograms cut into cubes beef
- 1 cut into cubes pineapple
- 3-4 small red onions
- ¼ cup teriyaki sauce
- sesame oil
- ¼ cup teriyaki glaze
- 30g sesame
Preparation:
Mix the teriyaki sauce with the sesame oil in a big bowl. Marinate the beef cubes for an hour. Thread the skewers by rotating beef, onion and pineapple until the skewer is full. Put the skewers onto the hot grill. Grill until ready and turn the sides often. 1-2 minutes before taking the skewers off the grill, dip in the teriyaki glaze and sprinkle with sesame.
