Skordalia – Greek garlic sauce for fish


Its name comes from the Greek word for garlic – „skórdo“. There are various types Skordalia, the common thing among all is garlic. Other ingredients vary, and you can also interpret such as using walnuts or almonds and lemon juice instead of vinegar.

And here is our recipe, the preparation of which is an old tradition at home. Whether as a starter on toast or as a garnish for fish, choose yourself.


  • 2 slices of white bread without the crust
  • Ground walnuts
  • Cooking oil
  • Yogurt
  • Garlic
  • Salt
  • Vinegar

Preparation of Skordalia

Stir in a bowl two slices of white bread, well-soaked and drained in advance. Add the cooking oil and ground walnuts, mix well, add two or more tablespoons of yogurt to the desired density. To finish, add garlic, salt and vinegar to taste.
