Delicious English buns Scones
Scones – traditional English tea buns for afternoon tea are actually cookies from butter dough. They are perfect to eat cut in half and served with whipped cream and jam, as well as fresh seasonal fruit. So if you, like me, always wanted to attend a classic tea party, get ready for cooking.
Ingredients:
- 3 tea cups Flour
- ½ tea cup cow milk
- 125 g butter
- ½ tea cup crystal sugar
- 1 pod vanilla
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 1 large egg
- a little pinch of salt
- 3 tbsp. Pastry cream
Preparation:
Flour, salt, sugar, baking powder and vanilla are sifted together. Add the cubed butter and stir with your hands until it gets crumbs.
In another bowl mix thoroughly beaten egg and milk.
Knead the soft dough from the wet and dry ingredients. Form a ball and store in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven 180 degrees beforehand.
Roll out the dough with a thickness of about 2-2.5 cm. Cut the circles with a sharp glass (about 6 cm diameter). Put the circles in the tray on baking paper, leave a little distance because they will increase in volume when baking.
Bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick dipped in the center of the buns is dry.
Cool completely at room temperature before decorating with topping, aromatically jam or freshly sliced fresh fruit. Serve Scones with a cup of tea.
