Lemonade with mint and basil – freshness and aroma in the hot days
Here’s another recipe for a cool soft drink with our favorite lemons. Unlike lemonade with lemon balm, Melissa here is replaced with basil and technology and other ingredients are almost the same. You can try both and decide yourself which one you like more. Here, I personally do not have a favorite and I fully enjoy both of them, all the more so that we have the three herbs in our garden. The only thing I do not like is that we do not have lemon trees in the yard, but maybe it will be one day. Here’s the recipe for our lemonade with mint and basil.
Ingredients:
- 2 tea cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 tea cups water
- 2 tea cups herbal mint and basil syrup
- ice
For herbal syrup:
- 2 tea cups Sugar
- 1 tea cup water
- ½ tea cup basil leaves
- ½ tea cup mint leaves
Preparation:
First, you need to make the mint and basil syrup. For this purpose, pour the sugar, water, basil and mint in a suitable pot and leave on the hot plate until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Leave aside until it cools down. Drain the herbs with your hand to release all of their scents and pass the liquid through the strainer.
In a large kettle, pour the water, lemon juice and herbal syrup. Stir and add ice.
For extra aroma and beautiful effect in the pot you can add lemon slices and mint and basil sprigs.
