The most popular fresh and rich salad in Greece is the Rural salad
Probably more often you have met her with the name Greek salad, it is a direct testimony to the culinary heritage and the connection with the delicious rural cuisine of the Byzantines from where the name comes. ( Χωριάτικη σαλάτα (Horiatiki Salad) – from horio (χωριό) – a small town, a village)
I introduce you my recipe for this delicious and fresh salad with a Mediterranean spirit.
Greek salad ingredients:
- 2-3 pieces of delicious red or pink tomatoes
- 1 small cucumber
- 1 green pepper
- 1 red onion
- 1 tbsp. capers
- 1 handful of kalamata olives
- dry or fresh oregano
- 150-200 grams of feta cheese
- pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp. of white wine vinegar
- 2-3 tbsp. extra virgin Greek olive oil
Preparation:
Prepare the salad by cutting tomatoes into the half-moon pieces, peel and cut the cucumber, slice the green pepper and the red onion. Add olives and capers. Salt and season with white wine vinegar. Put the cheese on a tile shape, cut into cubes or crushed into large pieces. Sprinkle with oregano and pour with aromatic olive oil.
