This charming winter fruit salad with persimmons, pears and kiwi will give you lots of energy and vitamins. It is our favorite dessert after long walks with children in the cold days of November, December and January. I feel real lucky that in my parents’ villa in a village near to Plovdiv has a huge tree with persimmons. Besides its delicious fruits, it is also distinguished by its exceptional beauty, especially when the large fruits begin to mature and get their distinctive bright orange color.
But let’s tell a little more about this exotic and so delicious and sweet fruit, which, for our happiness, also occurs in our lands, though not very often. His very name speaks enough. The Greek name of the persimmon – „diospyros“ or literally „divine fire“, you can imagine the divine taste of the fruit of this plant. But it also has its extremely useful qualities. Rich in various beneficial substances (vitamins, minerals, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, etc.), the fruits of the persimmon are suitable for the treatment of cold, cough, anemia, gastrointestinal disorders, bleeding gums and diabetes.
Ingredients:
- 6 well-ripened persimmons
- 2 kiwis
- 1 pear
- grains of 1 pomegranate
- 10 chopped dried dates.
Preparation:
Cut the caps of the persimmons and carve the fruits. Cut the kiwifruit and pear in small cubes, cut the dates into small pieces. Mix in a bowl the heart of persimmons, slices of kiwi and pear, pomegranate, dates. Stir well and fill the persimmons with the fruit stuffing. For me, the sweetness of the well-ripened apple is enough, but if you want more, add honey to splendor.
