Fried Sage – a great beer appetizer

Fried sage

Fried Sage

A few years ago we planted several sage roots in the garden. It smells very good, grows quickly and is easy to grow in the garden. The sage is a wonderful spice for fish and some meat dishes, but ours are already so big that we are constantly looking for other interesting recipes with it. So I came across this recipe in an Italian culinary show. I appreciate the lightest and pleasant aroma of fried sage, and I hope you enjoy it too. If not all of you, I think at least the connoisseurs of the beer will appreciate it in dignity.

Ingredients:

  • 50-60 Petals Sage
  • 100 g white flour
  • 200 ml cold beer
  • salt to taste
  • Frying oil

Preparation:

Choose fresh and healthy petals sage. Wash and cool them with cold water and leave them on a towel to dry.

During this time, stir the flour and beer until a smooth mixture is obtained. In a suitable bowl pour the flour and slowly pour with the pre-refrigerated beer, do not stop stirring all the time. When ready, add salt and stir again.

Heat the oil over low heat in a deep frying pan or saucepan. Roll the petals in the mixture and fry them until golden.

The oil should not be too hot, because the leaves are easy to burn.
