Fresh lemonade with lemon balm and mint
Lemonade with lemon balm and mint is refreshing summer drink, in which the cooling spices of herbs are added to those of the fragrant lemon. Wonderful drink for the hot summer days, which besides giving you a sip of freshness has a soothing effect, have a disinfectant effect and helps with gastrointestinal disorders. If you do not have a lemon balm or you accidentally do not like its fragrance, you can try lemonade with basil, which is just as delicious.
Lemon balm is one of my favorite herbs. I found it as a child, first thought of it as nettle and tried to crush with all his anger because it is „bad and stinging.“ I have not understood for a long time how this „unobtrusive“ herb smell of lemons, but I often went to one corner of our yard where it grew, rubbing my hands with her and then smelling my fingers for hours.
Ingredients:
- 1½ liters of water
- 4 lemons
- 6 tbsp. Sugar
- 1 bunch of mint and lemon balm
Preparation:
Boil the pre-washed leaves of mint and lemon balm in the water. Let it boil for about five minutes. During this time, water has to acquire a light green color. Remove from heat, remove the leaves and squeeze. Add the sugar until the potion is still hot and stir well to dissolve.
Squeeze the lemons, strain the lemon juice and add it to the potion of lemon balm and mint. Let it cool down.
When the beverage is cooled, pour into glass bottles and store in the refrigerator for a few days.
Serve with fresh leaves of lemon balm and mint, slices of lemon and lime and naturally with ice cubes.
