New Year Chinese cookies with green peas
This is probably one of the most popular Chinese recipes for Christmas cookies. To be honest, I’ve never tasted such a combination before. Prepare these delicate, aromatic and delicious Chinese cookies in captivating green.
- 400 g frozen green peas
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- the original recipe is prepared with corn oil, but in this recipe I replaced it with 125 g of quality cow butter
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 1½ cup of flour
- 1 yolk for spreading the cookies
In a saucepan, melt the butter, pour in the peas and cook for 5 minutes, add the salt and sugar and cook for another 5 minutes.
Blend in a blender until a smooth consistency and rub through a fine sieve. Add the flour and knead a smooth dough. Do not over-knead.
Shape arms of equal size balls, make a hole in the middle and brush with egg yolk. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° C for 15 minutes.
Allow cookies to cool completely before storing them in a tightly closed container.
