Chicken with prosciutto and mozzarella – an Italian classic served with a festive wink
Chicken with prosciutto and mozzarella is elegant and relatively easy to prepare recipe from the Apennines. There is no way else, in the presence of tomatoes, basil, mozzarella and prosciutto gathered in one dish.
Ingredients:
- 2 pcs. chicken breasts
- 3 tbsp. Olive oil
- 1 mozzarella
- 4 slices prosciutto
- fresh thyme
For tomato sauce:
- 1 can of diced tomatoes
- 1 cup fresh cherry tomatoes
- 2 cloves of garlic sliced
- a handful of fresh basil
- 1 tbsp. Sugar
- salt and black pepper to taste
Preparation:
In a pan, heat the olive oil and seal the chicken breasts, pre-seasoned with salt and pepper. Remove and let rest for 10 minutes. Arrange the mozzarella slices on top and screw in the prosciutto. Add a thyme bouquet and tie with baking thread.
Put all the ingredients for the tomato sauce in a saucepan and place the chicken breasts on top.
Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes, or until the mozzarella is appetizing. Serve with a garnish of roasted baby potatoes.
